CALLING ALL GIRLS AGED 10-14!

1st Whitchurch Guides now has a few spaces available for girls aged 10-14 who would enjoy taking part in a host of different activities.

You'll create your own campaigns, learn and share new skills and fly down the occasional zip wire. You'll explore new places - Guides go on camps, holidays and trips, enjoy exciting events like our star-studded concert the Big Gig and our music festival, Wellies and Wristbands.

Girls at Guides won't be your average friends. They'll be the girls who want to go on adventures with you, encourage you to try new things and who celebrate when you've pushed yourself to achieve something special. As you progress through Guides you'll have a chance to lead small groups and support younger girls to have fun and make friends. You could even get involved in our leadership opportunities.

We have recently undergone a complete overhaul of the programme to include activities, badges and experiences that are relevant to young women in 2019, you can work towards a badge in things such as vlogging, human rights, fitness and meditation as well as history of Guiding, backwoods cooking and confectionery. There are many more, so the choice is yours!

Why not join us for a session and see what we do? You would be very welcome! We meet Monday nights in Whitchurch Methodist Church Hall from 7-9pm.

Snowdrop Walk to raise funds for local charity

The popular Child Bereavement UK Snowdrop Walk will be held in the stunning surroundings of West Wycombe Park on Sunday 6 February 2022
The Snowdrop Walk is a day to remember babies and children who have died and children who are bereaved each year. People will be able to plant a snowdrop in memory of someone special and wander the grounds, taking in the beautiful views.

Individual snowdrops will be available to purchase on the day and a nature trail will keep youngsters amused. Further activities and refreshments will be available throughout the day in the village hall.

Child Bereavement UK in Buckinghamshire helps children and young people (up to age 25), parents, and families, to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. We also provide training to professionals, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families.

Alan Titchmarsh, a Patron of Child Bereavement UK said:

“Please support Child Bereavement UK’s Snowdrop Walk 2022 by attending the event in February. It’s a lovely way to shake off the cobwebs and enjoy the fresh air. By planting a snowdrop in memory of a loved one, you will be helping Child Bereavement UK support bereaved families and children to rebuild their lives after the devastation of bereavement.”
