Crematorium Update - 8th May 2015
Watermead Parish Council meeting with Westerleigh Crematoria Wednesday 8th April 2015.
Meeting with Westerleigh Crematoria
PC representatives met Westerleigh to make it absolutely clear to Westerleigh that our community does not want a crematorium in Watermead. It was reiterated that our opposition is absolute, and that we will continue to use every means at our disposal to fight this application.
We asked Westerleigh’s representative to withdraw the application. Westerleigh remains determined to get permission.
Meeting with AVDC Planning Officer
PC representatives and Cllr Lisa Smith one of our District Councillor met the planning officer dealing with this application last Friday. Our aim was to get the application returned to the Development Control committee in public.
We reiterated that the biodiversity and environmental surveys were inadequate in our view and asked for time to produce our own.
Planning Consultant
The PC has retained a planning consultant to provide expertise and support to us in these stages of the process. She is writing a report and letters to AVDC underlining the reasons for our request to return to the committee.

Watermead’s position
The community and PC is not, nor will it ever, work with anybody else to give tacit approval this development, there will never be any benefit to our community.
We continue to explore every avenue and meet everyone who will see us to put our case.
